A leading firm in the traditional finance and crypto trading space, managing over $1 billion in AUM, is known for its commitment to collaboration. This top-tier team specializes in both mid and low-frequency trading across APAC and Europe. We are seeking an exceptional Data Scientist to join the Data Search & Analytics team. In this role, you will work between the Research and Trading desks, and the Engineering team to ensure the successful leveraging of data within the firm.

Note: Generic Data Scientists will not be considered. Candidates must have experience in research and be able to pass a Python technical interview. Quant Researchers with relevant experience are also welcome to apply.

Your future role within the firm

This team is integral to the firm’s success. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaboration: Working with Quantitative Researchers and Traders to design datasets that drive systematic strategies and inform discretionary trading decisions.
  • Prototyping: Designing code to extract, clean, and aggregate data from a wide range of raw sources and formats.
  • Automation: Collaborating with Engineers to automate and optimize your code, ensuring robust data extraction processes.
  • Onboarding: Managing the end-to-end process of onboarding new datasets.
  • Problem-Solving: Proactively addressing data-related issues to minimize time to production.
  • Innovation: Experimenting with novel data extraction methods to enhance the firm’s data onboarding toolkit.

Your present skillset

  • Experience: 3+ years in a data-focused role, with a strong background in research and experience working with data vendors.
  • Education: Postgraduate degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Physics, or Engineering.
  • Programming: Advanced experience in Python, including proficiency with data handling libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.
  • Interest: Demonstrable interest in financial markets and the application of data in its analysis and understanding.
  • Dataset Experience: Familiarity with both traditional and alternative financial datasets.
  • Communication: Excellent skills for effective collaboration with all stakeholders, including researchers, traders, engineers, management, and external vendors.
  • Environment: Ability to thrive in a high-performance, high-velocity setting.
