My client, a premier global quantitative investment management firm, is seeking a skilled Production Support Engineer for a key contract role within their APAC operations. This is a critical operational position supporting the firm’s core research and trading data infrastructure.
The Role:
You will be embedded within a dynamic production management team, responsible for ensuring the stability, reliability, and performance of sophisticated data systems that are fundamental to the investment process. This is a hands-on, front-line support role requiring a proactive problem-solver who can manage the pressures of a live trading environment. You will act as a vital link between technology, research, and trading desks.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide high-touch, prompt support for a complex ecosystem of data extraction processes, pipelines, and operational workflows.
• Troubleshoot, investigate, and resolve issues impacting production and research data, ensuring all critical data tasks are completed ahead of daily trading.
• Perform in-depth analysis using Linux system logs and diagnostic tools to identify root causes.
• Support and monitor data jobs and processes across both on-premise (Windows & Linux) and cloud-based platforms.
• Collaborate closely with development and other infrastructure teams to implement fixes and improve system resilience.
• Participate in the release management cycle to maintain production environment stability.
• Develop and enhance monitoring tools and scripts to increase automation and operational visibility.
• Provide scheduled evening and weekend support on a rotational basis (typically via remote access).
Candidate Profile:
• 3-10 years of experience in a production support or similar operational technology role within the banking or buy-side (hedge fund/asset management) sector.
• Proven track record of supporting Front Office trading or research environments, managing expectations of demanding internal clients.
• Familiarity with Linux operating systems is mandatory, ideally Windows as well. You must be adept at Linux troubleshooting and forensic analysis of system logs.
• Strong relational database skills (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL) for data querying and support.
• Scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) are a significant advantage for automation and tooling.
• Familiarity with AWS, GCP or Azure and version control
• Good communication skills in English
