Senior Full Stack Java/C# Engineer – Tier 1 Buy-side Firm

My client, a Tier-1 Buyside Firm, is seeking a Senior Full Stack Java/C# Engineer to join its Front Office Technology team in Hong Kong.

You will join a globally connected Front Office Technology function that partners directly with investment professionals across APAC—including portfolio managers, traders, and risk teams. The team develops the technology platform they rely on to research investment ideas, analyse data, run simulations, manage risk, and enable trading decisions and execution.

The role sits at the intersection of engineering and the investment process, with responsibility for delivering practical technology solutions that improve front-office workflows. You will work closely with senior stakeholders in Hong Kong while collaborating with engineering colleagues globally, taking ownership of full-stack delivery across user-facing applications, backend services, data, and integrated workflows.

 Responsibilities

• Partner directly with APAC portfolio managers, traders, risk professionals, and engineering teams to understand business requirements and deliver effective technology solutions.
• Represent APAC front-office requirements in the global technology roadmap and drive delivery against regional priorities.
• Design, build, and enhance full-stack applications across front-end, back-end, data, and integrated investment workflows.
• Own significant workstreams end to end, from stakeholder engagement and solution design through development, deployment, and ongoing enhancement.
• Build trusted relationships with senior investment stakeholders and translate complex investment workflows into scalable technology solutions.
• Contribute to regional technology strategy and represent the Front Office Technology function in relevant APAC forums.
• Work independently while collaborating effectively with global engineering teams across time zones.

Key Requirements

• 8+ years’ full-stack engineering experience, with a strong track record of owning and delivering production systems.
• Strong object-oriented back-end development experience in Java or C#, alongside modern front-end expertise in React, Vue, or Angular.
• Strong SQL and data-analysis skills.
• Demonstrable experience partnering directly with business users and influencing what gets built through strong stakeholder relationships.
• Good understanding of buy-side investment workflows, including the needs of portfolio managers, traders, and risk professionals.
• A self-directed working style, strong written communication skills, and comfort operating independently within a regional role.
• Hong Kong-based, or willing to relocate to Hong Kong.

Preferred Experience

• Prior experience in a hedge fund, asset manager, or other buy-side environment.
• Experience working within a global engineering organisation as a regional technology lead, or contributing to the establishment of a regional technology presence.
• Exposure to front-office platforms, investment research tools, trading workflows, market data, risk technology, or portfolio-management systems.
• Familiarity with AI or agentic tooling.
