A leading quantitative trading firm seeks a hands-on engineer to build and maintain the critical pipelines connecting its systems to global financial markets. My client is a technology-centric firm where engineering excellence drives business growth. This role is the engineering core of the connectivity function, ensuring robust, low-latency access for both proprietary and client trading operations.

The role

You will engineer the solutions that enable access to new trading venues and onboard external counterparties. This is a technical, project-driven role where you will design, configure, and deploy FIX-based and other electronic trading protocols. You will collaborate directly with software engineers, infrastructure teams, and trading desks to bring connectivity projects from specification to live production.

Your Engineering Responsibilities:

  • Protocol Implementation: Develop, test, and maintain FIX session configurations and other exchange connectivity solutions for both internal and external client flows.
  • Project Lifecycle Ownership: Technically lead onboarding projects from request through to go-live, including coordination with internal developers and external parties.
  • Technical Execution & Troubleshooting: Utilize deep command-line and scripting skills (e.g., Python, Shell) to solve connectivity challenges, automate processes, and ensure system reliability.
  • Systems Navigation: Become an expert in my client’s proprietary trading architecture and the intricacies of various exchange protocols and trading systems.
  • Process Improvement: Advocate for and implement best practices in the team’s engineering approach to connectivity and integration.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A strong coder, who beyond scripting, can build tools and solve complex engineering problems.
  • Possesses deep experience in FIX protocol and exchange connectivity mechanics.
  • Is an excellent coordinator with proven project delivery skills across multiple technical and business stakeholders.
  • Is detail-oriented with clear, concise written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Enjoys learning and mastering new, complex systems in a fast-paced environment.

Location & Mobility:

This role is based in either Singapore or Hong Kong. My client will support relocation for qualified international engineering candidates.
