My client is a Tier-1 buyside firm looking for a Windows Engineer to run and continuously upgrade its internal Windows environment. You will help ensure the dependability of Windows-based services across data center, end-user, and virtualized infrastructure. In this role, you will operate, automate, standardize, and improve the Windows platform. You’ll partner with engineering teams across different locations to diagnose issues, plan and execute deployments, and strengthen internal tooling and technical documentation. You will also work in a global infrastructure setting where performance, security, and operational resilience are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strengthen, automate, and standardize the Windows environment to improve reliability, scale, and security.
  • Design, build, deploy, and maintain Microsoft Windows Server platforms
  • Build and support multi-forest Active Directory setups and associated identity services.
  • Configure and maintain Group Policy, DNS, and core identity components related to Kerberos.
  • Use PowerShell to automate rollout, configuration, monitoring, and operational workflows (and/or support via other languages as needed).
  • Implement monitoring and dashboards to track server and application performance.
  • Oversee and optimize patching and enterprise software update processes, supporting security hardening practices.
  • Troubleshoot Windows operating systems and applications; provide escalation assistance when necessary, including 3rd-line support.
  • Maintain backup operations and ensure disaster recovery readiness, optimizing backup efficiency and data integrity.
  • Support security monitoring and day-to-day operations using SIEM tooling and related observability practices.
  • Work with storage and high-availability technologies
  • Support and improve virtualization and surrounding components
  • Assist with end-user and access platforms where required
  • Contribute to technical documentation, architecture proposals, and other support materials.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, recommending practical improvements.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven ability to automate administration and infrastructure tasks using PowerShell
  • Strong, hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows 10/11 and/or Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019/2022+.
  • Solid working knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and Kerberos fundamentals.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting capability across Windows infrastructure, including system builds, configuration, and operational incidents.
  • Experience with performance monitoring and tuning for physical and/or virtual environments.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting and resolve complex issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Clear, concise communication skills, with a service-oriented mindset for engaging stakeholders.
  • Dependable, collaborative working style, with the ability to operate independently and across teams.
  • Fluent communication skills in English.
