My client is a privately-held, global quantitative trading firm trading its own capital with over 3,200 employees across 17+ offices worldwide. They are a world-leading options market maker and liquidity provider, systematically trading millions of transactions daily across options, equities, ETFs, fixed income, FX, commodities, and cryptocurrencies. Their edge is driven by a fully integrated model where quantitative researchers and technologists build low-latency systems and apply machine learning directly to trading strategies
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior DevOps / SRE Engineer to join the EOT (Execution & Order Management Technology) team in Hong Kong. This is the first DevOps hire on the team in Hong Kong, reporting to the team lead in HK, with the remaining 5 team members based in Sydney. This is a senior individual contributor role (VP-level equivalent) with the ability to technically lead, though it is not a people management role. The focus is on deployments, automation, developer experience, and tooling—not traditional trade support. You will be building tooling and CI/CD pipelines using Python, with a strong emphasis on improving the developer experience and infrastructure reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling.
- Improve developer experience and infrastructure reliability.
- Manage and monitor infrastructure across Linux and Windows environments.
- Work with a broad technology stack including Linux, Windows, Nagios, Grafana, Octopus, Prometheus, MongoDB, MySQL, and Kafka.
- Collaborate with development teams to streamline deployment workflows.
- Ensure high availability and performance of trading infrastructure.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Experience: Senior-level DevOps / SRE experience, able to technically lead without formal management responsibilities.
- Core Language: Strong Python skills (above support level, not necessarily expert developer level) for building tooling and automation.
- CI/CD & Automation: Deep experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
- Technology Stack: Linux (essential); Windows experience is a plus (comfortable picking up PowerShell on the job).
- Monitoring: Experience with Nagios, Grafana, Prometheus, or similar.
- Databases: Experience with MongoDB, MySQL, or similar.
- Messaging: Exposure to Kafka or similar streaming platforms.
- Industry: Prior finance experience is essential—ideally in a trading or investment banking environment.
- Mindset: Focused on developer experience, tooling, and automation rather than pure trade support.
