Role Overview

We are seeking a passionate and technically talented Senior Trading Support Engineer to join the global Infrastructure and Technology Service team in Hong Kong. You will be responsible for the upkeep of trading IT systems, supporting end-to-end trading applications, and providing direct trading application support to the trading teams. Candidates with less experience are also encouraged to apply and may be considered for a Trading Support Engineer role depending on assessment results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Incident Management: Own critical incidents by identifying root causes, mitigating impact, and leading post-mortem reviews to prevent recurrence.
  • System Operations: Ensure seamless operation of distributed, multi-server trading systems.
  • Trade Floor Support: Be the go-to expert for traders by providing hands-on trade floor support and direct application assistance.
  • Release Management: Oversee UAT coordination and production software releases to maintain stability and performance.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with Operations and Development teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues.
  • Monitoring & Logging: Design and implement robust monitoring and logging solutions, enhancing system reliability and visibility.
  • Automation: Automate and optimize workflows, developing scripts and tools to drive operational excellence.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement by proactively identifying gaps and suggesting better processes or tools.
  • On-Call Support: Engage in occasional after-hours support and testing as required to ensure smooth operations.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior team members.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience: At least 8 years in a trading support or similar technical role.
  • Education: Degree in Computer Science or related discipline.
  • Linux & Scripting: Proficiency with Linux environments and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl, or PHP).
  • Communication: Exceptional English communication skills (written and verbal), with strong interpersonal skills to thrive in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Mindset: Proactive with a passion for building quick, maintainable script solutions that are practical and scalable; able to identify areas for improvement while understanding existing constraints.
