Are you interested in working closely with researchers and traders in a buyside firm?
My client is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to build and own mission-critical trading and analytics applications used daily by traders, researchers, and analysts.
You will work directly with end users to understand complex workflows and deliver intuitive, high-performance products. This is a genuinely full-stack role: designing responsive, data-intensive React applications; building the Go services and real-time APIs behind them; and taking systems through to reliable production operation.
The applications are real-time and performance-sensitive, where accuracy, responsiveness, and reliability directly matter to the business. Prior trading experience is not essential; strong engineering fundamentals, product ownership, and an interest in solving challenging technical problems are.
Responsibilities
- Partner with traders, researchers, and business stakeholders to turn complex workflows into effective products.
- Own solutions end to end, from requirements and technical design through delivery, production support, and iteration.
- Build high-performance React and TypeScript applications for real-time trading, analytics, and operational workflows.
- Design, build, and operate production Go services, APIs, and backend integrations.
- Develop robust real-time data flows and data-rich interfaces for large, frequently updating datasets.
- Create reusable UI components, shared libraries, and extensible platform capabilities.
- Drive architecture and performance decisions across frontend, backend, and data flows.
- Ensure applications are reliable, maintainable, well tested, and observable in production.
- Work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high degree of ownership.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional full-stack software engineering experience, with clear production ownership across frontend and backend systems.
- Strong production experience with Go/Golang.
- Strong TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS skills; experience with Svelte or Vue is also relevant.
- Experience building responsive, data-intensive web applications with real-time updates.
- Good understanding of WebSockets and/or Server-Sent Events.
- Experience optimising frontend performance, including rendering, browser memory, and large-scale data handling.
- Experience building reusable components, shared abstractions, SDKs, or platform capabilities.
- Strong software design, testing, API design, and cloud-infrastructure fundamentals.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical users.
- Comfortable working autonomously in a fast-moving environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience with trading systems, market data, financial platforms, or other performance-critical software.
- Exposure to event-driven systems, Kafka, Protobuf, relational or columnar databases, and microservice architectures.
- Experience with data grids, charting, visualisation, or real-time dashboards.
- Familiarity with Docker, CI/CD, observability tooling, and production operations.
- Strong UI/UX judgement for dense, workflow-driven applications.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools responsibly in a production engineering environment.
